The exquisite Fairmont Grand Del Mar is an amazing Forbes Five Star Resort, a AAA Five Star award winning resort and is the 2019 Number One Luxury Hotel in California! I’m just going to say it was like stepping into the most amazing fairy tale for three days and I can’t wait to return.

So, I was fortunate enough to enjoy a recent girl’s getaway at The Fairmont Grand Del Mar and I cannot begin to express how fabulous it was. When we arrived, we instantly felt as though we had been transported to an elegant old-world Mediterranean estate in Southern California with signature charm and impeccable service. Magnificently situated on 400 acres in a pristine coastal canyon five miles from the Pacific Ocean, Fairmont Grand Del Mar shines as TripAdvisor’s #1 Luxury Hotel in San Diego.

The exquisite 249-room resort was a perfect summer escape from the Arizona summer heat.  We spent our days lounging by the amazing pool and simply breathing in the aromatic wonderland of the lush landscaping. Seriously, the property provided everything we desired!

My expansive suite was very luxurious and comfortable. It had a spacious marble bathroom with a deep and relaxing soaking tub. My suite overlooked the adult spa pool and had an expansive balcony which made for the loveliest backdrop for quiet morning coffee or spectacular girls only sunset cocktails, which we enjoyed every single day!

The views of the resort’s gardens were nothing short of breathtaking and I couldn’t help but relax as we enjoyed the comfort of this private, tranquil and exclusive retreat. Such a wonderful and welcome getaway!

Among our favorite spots were the Lobby Lounge and bar area, which is situated just next to the beautiful lobby and has elegant (yet comfortable) furnishings and beautiful fireplaces. One of their signature drinks (which we all absolutely loved!) was the Margarita Blossom- a perfectly refreshing happy hour cocktail.

Beyond this luxurious resort lies all of San Diego and Del Mar’s top attractions. You can find art galleries, museums, the best shopping districts, miles of coastal bliss as well as the world famous Del Mar Racetrack.

On this particular trip, it was the exciting Opening Day at Del Mar, which made for an extremely special experience for us.

The accommodating staff at the Fairmont were quick to recognize the special occasion and assisted us seamlessly with photos and arrangements with local restaurants and transportation. They were the very best!

In case you want to exercise, there are pro-style tennis courts, an 18-hole championship golf course and 37 miles of canyon preserve trails. I promise you this premier San Diego resort will meet your every need for fun and excitement.

With regard to their many, exceptional on-site restaurants, you’ll discover the Fairmont Grand Del Mar’s signature restaurant, Addison, which features Relais & Châteaux Grand Chef William Bradley’s artisanal approach to cooking, combining local ingredients with contemporary French influences.

Then there is Amaya, which will whisk you off to the coast of Italy, as you enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner on the shaded terrace or within the relaxed yet refined dining room.

The Clubhouse Grill provides pre-round pick-me-ups to late-night cravings, Chef de Cuisine Jason Winton satisfies hungry diners with his delicious, approachable cuisine that keeps guests coming back for more.

Cent’Anni Café is a  gourmet café which offers organic iced teas, steaming espressos, breakfast on-the-go, pressed sandwiches, seasonal soups, fresh salads, gelato and daily special offerings.

Last but certainly not least is the Club M where you can lose yourself in the rhythmic beats and pulsing lights. This is the Fairmont Grand Del Mar’s sultry nightclub, where you can mix, mingle and dance the night away with live music and guest DJs every weekend. Quite fabulous and fun- just sayin’.

All of my very relaxed and happy girlfriends agreed as we left the MAGNIFICENT the Fairmont Grand Del Mar- when can we return? It was heaven on earth!

Last week I enjoyed a staycation with one of my great friends, Candice, at the gorgeous Royal Palms Resort & Spa in Phoenix, AZ

When we arrived, we were greeted with champagne as we checked in. Such a nice touch and allowed us to begin relaxing from the get go.

This was not my first visit to Royal Palms and I was thrilled to return. Please take a look here to learn about the history of this amazing property. Royal Palms features a classic Mediterranean motif, reflecting Spanish Colonial architecture at its finest. Simply put, it’s beautiful!

After a quick check in (champagne in hand) we were taken off to our suites, all while admiring the gorgeous architecture and landscaping. Settling into our elegant rooms, we unpacked and took a few photos before heading to the Mix-Up Bar for a drink then dinner at T. Cook’s. The late afternoon wasn’t hot and the sun was beginning to set while reflecting soft light upon the stunning Camelback Mountain. Such amazing location!

T.Cook’s is the onsite restaurant and it features bold Mediterranean flavors, with notes of regional influences from Northern Italy, Greece, and Spain. T.Cook’s has two outdoor patios boasting those famous views of Camelback Mountain with cozy fireplaces and blooming bougainvillea scattered throughout the property.

After splitting some delicious specially prepared plates, we finally just relaxed and enjoyed the terrific ambiance of Royal Palms and T.Cook’s. Just an FYI, T.Cook’s is a favorite among many in the Phoenix/ Scottsdale social scene. You never know who you might see at the next table! Always fun!

The next morning we ordered a light breakfast through room service and sipped our coffee while we ate on the peaceful patio (which looked out at Camelback Mountain) before heading to the pool.

It may be pretty hot in AZ right now, but between the shady cabana (which had ceiling fans), cool drinks and the fabulous pool, it was really an enjoyable day.

That night Candice, her adorable daughter and myself went to dinner before calling it a night. The next morning we enjoyed coffee and breakfast again before heading home.

Such a nice getaway for the girls! For all of Royal Palms summer specials, click here.

In the midst of the beautiful Napa Valley winegrowing region, just north of San Francisco is Carneros Resort and Spa, a luxurious Napa Valley retreat. Carneros Resort and Spa was created to provide an intimate atmosphere embracing Napa Valley’s hospitality and its unique surroundings.

Nestled among 28 gorgeous, lush acres of endless rows of grape vines and expansive Napa farmland, Carneros Resort and Spa’s design has received its styling cues from the local countryside – combining stylish resort accommodations and modern interiors. This beautiful resort captures the region’s distinct charm perfectly, as well as accommodating the needs of their sophisticated guests.

The suites range from 900 to 1,200 square feet and offer an expansive outdoor patio and garden. Candice and I stayed in a Garden Suite, which is actually two separate cottages complete with king size beds and a shared backyard.

There are only 86 suites, cottages, and private homes onsite, so it’s highly likely you’ll feel romantic, pampered and secluded. Carneros Resort and Spa offers serene tranquility with high-end amenities. The front decks are furnished with comfy rocking chairs which take in the amazing view. The bathrooms have heated floors, and unique outdoor showers which complement the private patio and garden areas.

Carneros offers three full-service restaurants – FARMThe Boon Fly Café and Hilltop Dining Room .

The Boon Fly Café is fun, lively, and vibrant, serving modern rustic cuisine in a contemporary roadhouse atmosphere.

The cafe was named after Boon Fly, a pioneer who planted orchards and vineyards in the area in the mid-1800s. Resort guests and locals alike are drawn to the energetic vibe and satisfying cuisine that’s based on the agricultural heritage of the region.
